Novice certamen team takes first at Latin competition, qualifies for state

Latin students competed and won third overall sweepstakes in the Lower Division at the Junior Classical League in St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, Feb. 21. One team and nine individuals placed with the Novice Certamen team eligible for a spot in state. Also, Hayleigh Bardin was elected Area F Chair for 2016 and Rouse will host the competition next year.

Zoe Vanover: 1st Vocabulary level 1, 3rd Latin Grammar level 1, Pentathlon Maxima Cum Laude
Larissa Yorgan 3rd Roman Life level 1, Pentathlon Summa Cum Laude
Nate Lunceford 1st Roman Life level 1, Pentathlon Magna Cum Laude
Daniela Gutierrez 2nd Roman Life level 2, Pentathlon Summa Cum Laude
Nate Stewart 3rd Roman Life level 2, 2nd 50 yard dash (Olympika), Pentathlon Cum Laude
Rebecca Erlanson 2nd place Mythology level 1, Pentathlon Magna Cum Laude
Glen Smith Pentathlon Maxima Cum Laude
Hannah Simmons Pentathlon Magna Cum Laude
Hayleigh Bardin Pentathlon Cum Laude

All qualifiers will continue on to State at Amarillo High School in March.
