Four Automotive students place at SkillsUSA district

Four Automotive students placed at the SkillsUSA district competition, Feb. 13-14.

In Automotive Service Technology, junior Zach Stephenson took first place while junior Caleb Hrouda was second. Junior Wesley Black finished second in Job Skills Demonstration A and junior Abram Lopez took second in Action Skills. All four will now move on to the state level competition in Corpus Christi, March 27.

“I feel very accomplished and excited to be one of the first people to go to state for this,” Stephenson said. “Now I’m just focusing on doing well in state.”

Seniors Hysun Jackson and Gary Kau, sophomore Aaron Smith and junior Clayton Stafford also competed at the district contest, participating in the in Quiz Bowl competition. This is the first time for students to advance to state in the Automotive Service Technology category.

“It was pretty fun and it was a good experience,” Black said. “State will probably be an even better experience.”
