Junior Haley Timmons placed second in the 100 Fly at the regional meet in Conroe, Feb. 6-7.

“I think I did pretty good, but I could have worked on my technique a little,” Timmons said. “I could have gotten my stroke under control a little more, but all in all I could have just gone harder.”

Timmons learned Monday her time was good enough to qualify for the state meet. Only first place winners in each region are guaranteed a state spot. The other spots are filled based on the quickest times from the four regions. Timmons also qualified for state last year in 4A and finished third in the 100 Fly.

“I’m really excited about state,” Timmons said. “Especially about getting the opportunity to race with my longtime rivals.”

Six relays and three swimmers competed at the regional meet. Freshman Summer Fullwood advanced to the finals in the 200 Free and 500 Free. The girls 200 medley relay and 400 free relay also advanced to finals.

“We had a great run at finals,” Ramsey said. “We swam in the hardest region in the state and one of the fastest pools worldwide on Saturday.”
