Senior Sam Acosta was named the 6A All-State Band, making this his second time to receive the honor. Only one percent of the students in the Texas Music All-State auditioning process make it to the All-State Band.

Acosta, who plays the trumpet, was named seventh chair in Area, Jan. 10 which qualified him for the All-State Band. Acosta made the 4A All-State band last year.

“I’m very proud of my placement,” Acosta said. “This was the toughest competition I’ve ever faced, so making state is such an honor that I am once again overjoyed to be a part of this experience.”

Acosta will perform with the All-State Band at the Texas Music Educators Conference Feb. 26-28.

“To be an All-State member in my final year in high school is such an uplifting experience,” Acosta said. “I’m so thankful for my directors and friends over the past four years for their help and for helping me get this far.”
