Some people collect coins. Some people collect snow globes. But sophomore Alma Malocalaj collects Pez dispensers.

“I’ve always had fun collecting Pez dispensers,” Malocalaj said. “It’s always fun seeing how many different ones they have.”

The plastic dispensers, which hold small flavored hard candy, come with different character heads. Malocalaj’s collection has allowed her to have a cool connection with her father.

“Sometimes I forget about them, my dad would ask if any new ones had come out, he gets into it,” she said.

The sophomore enjoys her collection because they’re unique and entertaining. So far, she has almost 500 of the candy holders.

Sophomore Alma Malocalaj has been collecting Pez dispensers for years. She has almost 500.

“I have six small boxes and three big boxes in my closet and they’re all filled up to the top with my Pez dispensers,” Malocalaj said.

Malocalaj buys new ones, but also receives them from friends and family who know about her collection. Her dad is one of the main people who buys because he’s just as into it as she is.

“When I go get new ones I don’t always remember the ones I have because I have so many so when I get more of the same one I just give them away to little kids,” she said.

And while the sophomore wants to display her growing collection at some point, she’s not looking to make to get rid of it anytime soon.

“Even though I don’t plan on selling them, I’m hoping one day they will be worth a lot of money,” Malocalaj said.
