With almost 60 new faculty & staff members added to the 2015-16 faculty, the Rumbler staff profiled all new team members to help Raider Nation get to know them.

Position: Instructional coach. I don’t have any students assigned to me, but I am a math teacher in terms of certification.

What were involved with in high school? Oh, lots of things. I was in the Latin club, Student Council and in fact I was treasurer of the student council. I played volleyball, mostly if there was a club, I was probably a part of it.

Are you new to Rouse or have you been here before? Yes and no, I was here and then I was gone for two years. I was here for four years prior to that, so I started here six years ago, was here for four years, and then I moved to New Jersey for two years with my husband’s job. He worked in New York City, so my family and I lived just outside the city.

Since you’ve been gone and came back to Rouse, what has changed? Lots of new people that’s for sure. Lots of new teachers and of course new students because they graduate, so the faces around here have changed. What’s neat is the enthusiasm has not, it’s really cool. I think it’s going to be a great year, with lots of spirit.

What’s something you do outside of school? I help coach my daughter’s volleyball team. They do a league over the Cedar Park Center and it’s called Spike Volleyball and I help with that. I’m the assistant coach, I’m not the coach.

Why did you choose teaching as your profession? Honestly, I love education, I love helping students reach their full potential and I’ve done it in many different ways. I’ve done it as a classroom teacher, I’ve done it as an administrator, because honestly, I love teenagers. I want to help them in any way I can.

What’s something people would be surprised to know about you? That I lived outside of New York City and I can navigate the subways under the city.
