Prom Queen and King Q&A
Cole Shuffield and Angela Schiff win King and Queen at 2016 Prom
May 10, 2016
How did it feel to be nominated for court?
Angela Schiff: I was laughing really hard because I didn’t know people actually knew me. I mean, it was nice, it was an honor, but it was unexpected.
Cole Shuffield: We started off with an RNN bit for Random Raider and it turned into us really campaigning for prom king and queen.
How long did it take you to get ready for prom?
Schiff: It actually took me I guess maybe two maybe three-ish hours. My hair took a while, but I don’t really care for make-up so I just kind of slopped some on.
Shuffield: It took me about 30 minutes to be done, just put my suit on and do my hair.
What were your first thoughts when your name was announced?
Schiff: What!? I remember I was just kind of really confused and I just stepped up and thought ‘Oh, this is cool.’
Sheffield: It was really exciting. I didn’t really have time to be excited though, because the flash of the cameras in the dark room was really blinding. It was crazy.
Who did you think was going to win?
Schiff: I had no idea because I wasn’t really close with any of them, but I wanted Carrie Schaible to win queen and I voted for Cole for king so I was hoping he was going to win.
Shuffield: I really thought that Dustin Asbury and Lindsey Lambert were going to win.
What was it like for you to win?
Schiff: It was kind of nice leaving a small legacy before I bounce for college.
Shuffield: It really meant feeling the connectivity around with all the seniors and how loved we really are by everyone.
Did your senior prom match up to what you thought it would be like when you were a junior?
Schiff: It was way better then junior year; junior year was really stressful but senior year was nice and fun and I went with really great people and it was very enjoyable.
Shuffield: Junior year was really awkward because the seniors are like ‘It’s going to be our prom’ so this year it really felt nice to be the big dogs in the prom room.
What was your favorite part of prom?
Schiff: When the song “It’s Tricky” played I went so hard, that was by far my favorite part, I was halfway across the side of the room when it played and I just started running in my giant heels to the center. Bless.
Shuffield: Definitely doing all the line dances and Cupid Shuffles.
How did you ask your date, or your date ask you to prom?
Schiff: Junior year we just kind of decided that it was me and my bro, Nikolas Zukowsky, we didn’t really ask each other we just kind of assumed we were going together, so it was nice. It’s not like it was a romantic dealio, we were just solid.
Shuffield: Hannah Hoffmann was my date to the prom and we worked on a show together and she was the backstage lighting operator, so I incorporated lights in asking her to prom. I asked ‘Light up the dance floor with me at prom’ and I attached little lights to my poster.
