Give me a break
Spring break is notorious for being the week of trips and other fun plans. Here’s some places students traveled over the break.
New York City
Sean Grandt, 12
“I went to a varsity choir field trip to New York City. We first went on two plane trips which were ridiculous. We got settled in at the Paramount hotel that was really nice, but everything else on the trip was jam packed every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. We went to see an opera show on the last day, but we also got to see the play Aladdin and that was fantastic. Afterwards we were able to interview and talk to six of the cast members, ending up with the main role, Aladdin which was really cool. All in all, we just enjoyed as much as we could of the scenery, the area of the events that we had scheduled throughout the day. Over all it was a blast, I, being a senior guy being one of two or three, but I felt the need to be a leader similar to Mrs. Justice, sort of like her assistant. I had to take care of the children in the biggest brother in the group kind of way. The most memorable part was probably all the laughs I had with the goofy underclassmen.”
San Francisco
Hannah Bonner, 12
“I went to California for spring break. I went to Yosemite National Park and I went to San Francisco. I saw the Full House house, like where they actually filmed it and then I saw the Golden Gate Bridge. The most memorable thing was driving across the Golden Gate Bridge, and then across the other bridge at night because it was all lit up and you could see the San Francisco skyline.”
Port Aransas
Anna Doherty, 9
“I went to Port Aransas over the break. We sat on the beach and went to awesome restaurants. It was so great because I love the beach, I loved just getting to sit there and enjoy the waves and sand.”
Puerto Rico
Cherokee Ford, 10
“I went to Puerto Rico during spring break. We went snorkeling to the Bioluminescent Bay, went swimming at the beach and then went zip lining through the rainforest. The most memorable thing was zip lining thought the rainforest because first zip line was a minute and 10 seconds, I was over the trees and it was just such a beautiful view and you were able to see the beach.”
Oregon
Cassidie Cox, 10
“Over the break I traveled to Oregon. I mainly visited family but I also got to see the University of Oregon campus which is one of the top universities I want to go to. The most memorable thing was probably being able to reconnect with my family [out there] just because I never really saw that part except for a funeral or a wedding and I’ve only ever seen them whenever I was young they’re all such sweet people and it was nice being able to bond with them.”
Grand Canyon
Janice McLaughlin, 12
“I went to the Grand Canyon over break. I hiked along the south rim and I actually went down into the canyon and it was really fun. It was really memorable because I did it with my foreign exchange student who is a junior and with my two friends and my mom.”
Disney World
Alyssa Perez, 10
“During spring break I went to Orlando, Florida where I visited Disney World and Universal Studios. Our resort in Disney was so cool, they based it off of The Princess and the Frog. We spent time in The Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios, and rode amazing roller coasters. Then the fireworks show was just so beautiful with this projector on the castle and Tinkerbell zip lining down, it was just breathtaking.”
Six Flags
Korben Wells, 11
“I went to Six Flags. I rode all the rides and looked around. I’d never been there before and I did everything you’d normally do at Six Flags. The Iron Rattler was a lot of fun, it was interesting and scary. Going down on the rides, like the peak and then just dropping, just the thrill of it all.”
