x-menX-Men: Apocalypse, May 27

With another instalment in the X-Men franchise, Apocalypse is on the lengthy list of comic to film adaptations for this year alone. With the first mutant rising into power, the X-Men must unite to stop Apocalypse before he causes the end of the world. –Nalani Nuylan

Looking Glass Alice Through the Looking Glass, May 27

Starring: Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway

We all know the girl Alice who went to Wonderland, but now she’s returning to save her friend the Madhatter. Alice is now finding a potential enemy, time. With an ironic twist of time being a person, he also seems to be conspiring with the Red Queen. This sequel looks promising with amazing graphics and whimsical characters. –Shayla Anderson

Starring: Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks and Alexander Gould

After Finding Nemo, Dory is back with a splash in this Pixar sea adventure. Living with short-term memory loss, Dory miraculously remembers one day in small details about her family, and decides to takes a trip through the ocean to find them. We’ll learn more about Dory and her past, and the new friends she makes along the way. It’s sure to be full of laughs and adventure. –Shayla Anderson

Starring: Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, Bill Pullman and William Fichtner

Following the first movie in the 1996, Independence Day: Resurgence is rising to the surface with a return from the forces that tried to completely annihilate them two decades ago. This time the forces have come back stronger and more deadly than before. The new concern is if their updated space defenses will be enough to defeat the aliens this time. – Brandon Lemus

The ShallowsThe Shallows, June 29

Staring: Blake Lively and Óscar Jaenada

In this ocean set movie, Blake Lively plays Nancy, a newly moved resident of a coastside town known for its surfers. However, when she finds herself stranded in the middle of the sea with a bloodthirsty shark between her and her home, the audience gets to experience all of the grit of survival in this heart-stopping film. -Tyler Roberge

The BFG, July 1

Starring: Rebecca Hall and Bill Hader.

This movie is a remake from the original 1989 film and based off of The BFG by Roald Dahl, it’s about a young girl named Sophie growing up in an orphanage. She makes friends with a kind-hearted giant who later becomes an outcast in his community for refusal to eat children.  –Ilana Williams

Starring: Teresa Palmer, Billy Burke and Maria Bello.

Based off of the 2013 short horror film Lights Out by David Sandberg, this film goes in-depth of the story of the creature in the shadows. Just as the lights go out the creature appears. In the struggle to survive the attacks of the creature, the town’s people stock up on flashlights and lightbulbs. As things start to appear so does the story of the creature’s past. –Brandon Lemus

Nine LivesNine Lives, August 5

Starring: Jennifer Garner and Robbie Amell

Business man Tom Brand is a workaholic and ends up missing his daughter’s birthday. Because of his lack of time he spends with his family he gets her a cat. But in a comic twist, the pet store owner turns Brand into the new family cat as a form of punishment. –Ilana Williams

Suiced SquadSuicide Squad, August 5

Starring: Margot Robbie, Jared Leto & Will Smith

Suicide Squad is a DC comic movie where imprisoned villains team up to go on risky missions in exchange for pardons. With origin stories, action and humor, this is the best anti-Avengers movie that comic fans have been waiting for.  –Nalani Nuylan
