Mikaela’s Bio
This is my second year writing for the Raider Rumbler. I love writing and have for as long as I can remember. Literature has always been my field of interest in school and would like to do something that involves it when I get older.
I am a national fencer and fencing takes up a big chunk of my time. Sometimes it seems like I plan my life around the sport, but I love it and know I will be fencing for the rest of my life. I also enjoy art and consider it an outlet from stress brought by school work. I am also part of the National Art Honor Society. I enjoy photography and spending time with my friends and family.
I am still some-what undecided about what I want to do with my future, but I would either like to go to Penn State (#1 fencing college in the US) or the home-sweet-home college, UT. When I grow up, I would like to either become some sort of psychiatrist or a writer. My goal in life is to live it to the fullest and just be happy and peaceful.
Rachel’s Bio
Hey! My name is Rachel Sloan and the only accurate way to describe me is random! I am fourteen years old and a freshman at Rouse High School. I am very excited and honored to be one of the few freshmen on the newspaper staff. I firmly believe in Mrs. Sneed’s statement that “Journalism is random.” I am also a member of our drama department at RHS. I enjoy writing just about any kind of story, and I typically am very shy when taking photos. I enjoy being seen, but I don’t enjoy being looked at. I love to be on stage or to have my stories published, but I don’t believe that a person can be understood just by what they say.
Gloriana’s Bio
I am a fourteen-year-old freshmen at Rouse High School. I like to write about events and my opinion on things. I love to read all kinds of books, mostly science fiction and fantasy type stuff. I love being on newspaper, and am enjoying it very much. I am also on RHS’s Color Guard.
If I could sum myself up in one word, I would say that I am creative. I like doing things with my hands, including creative writing. I like to be crazy, happy, and positive, but as my friends will tell you, I am most often tired and random. I love my friends and cannot live without them. They are a large part of where my time goes.
The other portion of my energy goes to color guard. It eats up my time, with seven hours of practice a week and day-long competitions almost every Saturday. If I didn’t love it, I would have quit long ago.
So basically, newspaper and guard are my life, and I’m totally cool with that.
Harley’s Bio
I’m Harley and this is my second year writing for the Raider Rumbler newspaper. I am also the producer for the Raider Nation News broadcast. I’m interested in art and photography, but writing is my passion. I plan on pursuing journalism as a career. My dream is to write album reviews for Pitchfork and maybe have my own column in a magazine like NYLON.
You’ll see me with sunglasses on my face and headphones in my ears almost everywhere I go. I’m always listening to music. My current favorites are Vampire Weekend, Lady Gaga, Be Your Own Pet, and Zlam Dunk.
There isn’t much to me. I enjoy live music, scooter rides, sunny days, and chillin’ in Austin, Texas.
Kate Pate’s Bio
I’m the type of person who has so many passions and pet peeves, and I’m a little bit OCD and very stubborn…I think too much, too often…But I’m also the type of person who cares too much about others, who worries, and honestly, I’m very harsh with the people I care about; sometimes too harsh.
I love band, I love my directors, and I love my friends, most of which are in band. I love my friends in newspaper, and I love Sneed. I love music, books, and animals. I don’t like drama, bugs, or rude people. I love Paul Acosta and his family. I love my family. I love Rowan Armour and Salina Calderon. Oh, and I hate being grounded.
My favorite movie of all time is The Lion King. I watched that movie so many times I can recite it by memory. My favorite book is The Lovely Bones, and my favorite band is either Matchbox Twenty or Coldplay. I listen to lots of different music and read books all the time. My favorite colors are any variation of blue and black, and my favorite animal is the elephant.
I hate decisions. I haven’t exactly decided what I want to do with life yet. I’m taking classes in Veterinary Applications next year. Ever since I was a kid I’ve wanted to take care of animals, until a few years ago I discovered I enjoyed writing and wanted to be an author. I then decided that I needed a better plan than just hoping someone enjoys a book that I wrote. I plan on going to Colorado University at Boulder or Fort Collins, but I guess that all depends on what I decide.
Samantha Arreola’s Bio
T his is my second year working on the Newspaper staff at Rouse High School, but it is my first year working on the Raider Rumbler online. I enjoy writing when I am able to write freely.
I can be very shy at times if I don’t know a person, but I start opening up to them more once they make me laugh and make me feel comfortable around them. I love music; it’s pretty much my life. T.V. isn’t really my thing; I get bored while watching it. But, movies are different. I love to watch them. I don’t have a preferred genre because I like any type of movie, as long as it is good and keeps me interested.
I plan on getting a job as soon as I turn sixteen. I want to be independent and get things on my own. As soon as I graduate high school, I am also planning on going back to where I am originally from, California. I’m not exactly sure what I want to do with my life, or what I want to major in when I start college, but I am sure that I want to get somewhere in life and actually do something with it.
Rowan Armour’s Bio
Friends and family are everything to me. I’ve got great friends and a family that supports me no matter what. I am a member of the Raider Band and love being a band nerd. I play the saxophone during marching (football) season, and the oboe for the rest of the year.
My favorite author changes depending on what book I am reading at the time and I love horror movies. Some of my favorite movies include Silence of the Lambs, 30 Days of Night, Starship Troopers, Lord of the Rings, 28 days Later, Across the Universe and Avatar.
I’ve been working on the newspaper staff for as long as the school has been open and am the business manager and online editor. I hope to one day become a high school teacher and maybe move up North.
