Senior Madie Boreman won her first race of the season Friday night, winning the Varsity Girls A 3200 Meter Run at Friday Night Lights in the Woodlands. Boreman finished the nighttime two mile race in 11:17.3. Senior Haley Timmons finished 19th with a time of 12:31.7.

“I’m excited because it was a top three time in the US and I’ve wanted to win that meet since I was a freshman, but never have till now,” Boreman said.

For the varsity boys, senior Nico Escobar was the top runner in the Varsity Boys B 4000 Meter Run, taking third place with a time of 13:20.7 in the race. Ben Escobar and Mitchell Ballis finished in the 30, taking 23rd and 28th. The annual race, the only evening race, is always the season opener for the Raiders.

“It felt awesome to place,” Escobar said. “It is very reassuring to have all of the hard work pay off. The only thing better than a great start to the season is a great end to it, so I’m looking forward to the rest of my races.”
