Junior Madie Boreman won both of her events at the regional meet, May 1-2 in Waco. Boreman placed first in the 1600 Meter Run and 3200 Meter Run.

“It felt good to win, and I’m going to state pretty happy and excited to race,” Boreman said.

Boreman won the one mile with a time of 5:00.39, beating Kingwood’s Abby Guidry by four seconds. She also beat Guidry in the two mile race, eclipsing her by less than a second, finishing the 3200 in 10:45.46.

“Madie has been running really well and is ready to run fast,” girls coach Kelly Thompson said.

Boreman has won the district, area and regional championships in the 1600 and 3200 this year. This will be her third year to return to state. As a freshman, she won the 1600.

“[The] state meet is always is an exciting atmosphere that sets up for fast races,” Thompson said.
