The swim team has attended seven meets this season to improve their times and help prepare for district in January.

“The meets are a step forward from the district meet,” sophomore Jacob Gwin said. “They are all meets that get us up to the next point.”

The team will have two last meets before district, they went to Killeen Dec. 13 and will attend a meet at Georgetown, Jan. 3.

“I get to race the people in my district,” senior Pablo Rodriguez said. “I get to see how fast they are and how they race.”

This is the swim team’s first district meet in the new 6A division, and they are facing teams many have never raced before.

“Westwood will be the toughest,” Rodriguez said. “They are always practicing together and are just really fast.”

The team heads to district Jan. 23-24 at The University of Texas.
