Halfway through district, the varsity boys soccer team is on a win streak. The Raiders are 8-3-1 overall and 3-0-1 in district.

“So far, I feel great,” junior Zackary Ramirez said. “This year we have a really good team. It’s the best we’ve ever seen, and our expectation for districts is to get the top seed going into playoffs.”

The boys kicked off district with a 2-2 tie at Cedar Park and followed it up with three consecutive wins. They scored four goals in the Leander and Vista Ridge wins and edged out Vandegrift, 2-1.

“[Beating Vandegrift] was definitely a good feeling,” Ramirez said. “It was probably the most intense match we’ve had, and probably will have because that was the game that put us in first place.”

The team is currently in first place with the second half of the season starting Tuesday, Feb. 25.
“We feel pretty good,” Ramirez said. “I’m looking forward to the Vandy game that we’re going to play at home, because right now they are our biggest competition we’ve ever had so we have a big target on our backs, now.”
