McCrary invited to Army game

Quarterback Billy Ray McCrary was announced as one of the top 500 students in the nation to make the US Army National Combine football team. The announcement was made during the Homecoming parade, Oct. 16 by Anthony Williams.

“It’s a US Army Combine,” McCrary said. “Basically you go to this and the next step is the U.S Army football game.”

The US Army National Combine is for all the top high school athletes. The event focuses on measuring speed, strength, fitness, and football skill all while providing educational seminars to touch on the recruiting process and leadership. The football game is held annually in association with the US Army All-American Bowl, and this year they will meet Jan. 2-4 in San Antonio. Of the 500 students selected, about 90 will be selected to play in the game.

“I wasn’t 100 percent, but I was pretty positive,” McCrary said. “It was really cool getting that accomplishment announced at the Homecoming parade.”
