Season opener for varsity football this Friday

For the first time, football will field seniors on the team. In their third varsity season, the Raiders have a more experienced squad that will take on Liberty Hill in the season opener, Friday, Aug. 26.

“This year we are going to be completely unselfish as a coaching staff and a team,” head coach Jacob Mann said. “We are going to give all we have across the board.”

For the past two weeks, players have been attending practices twice a day beginning at 7 in the morning and some staying as late as 4 in the afternoon either lifting weights or watching film.

“This has been the hardest year of practices that we have ever had,” senior Chris Blount said. “Our biggest advantage this year will be our hard work and long practices.”

The Raiders take on Liberty Hill at 7:30 p.m. at Bible Stadium. Student tickets will be sold before school, during lunches and afterschool at the front reception desk for $3. Tickets at the gate are $8.

“I try my hardest to attend every game,” junior Brandy Giordano said. “I really love supporting our team and seeing all my friends at the games.”
