Two students placed at the Round Rock UIL meet, Jan. 31. Monica Oatman placed second in Literary Criticism and Sam Bachmayer took third in Ready Writing.

“UIL is interesting and fun,” Bachmayer said. “You get to compete against people who enjoy and are interested in their competing topic.”

In addition, the Social Students team finished second and the Current Events team was fourth.

At the next meet Feb. 5 at Hendrickson, only the journalism team competed. Jordan Buie finished fourth in Editorial Writing.

“Considering it was my first meet of the year, fourth wasn’t too bad,” Buie said. “With a few more practices, hopefully by the time district comes around I’ll be good enough to go to regionals.”
