Based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s 2009 revamped take on the classic story by Jane Austin, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is set in 19th century London where the living are suffering the torment of the dead. The story follows the plot of the original Pride and Prejuidice, but in a world where the zombie plague has spread around the world. However, the Bennett family did not take their chances and trained their daughters to kill any zombies that comes their way.

PPZ is very much like the original story that Jane Austin created only the plot is at a faster pace due to all of the action. The action and the drama was well balanced and satisfied both sides of the action packed and romance loving audience. Even though the world is living in a zombie apocalypse, Austin’s original humor and quirkiness in her characters was acted out well by Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley) and Parson Collins (Matt Smith). The stunt choreography was well done and couldn’t help but feel proud that ladies where killing zombies than the oh-so-strong men.

My favorite seen in the film was when Mr. Darcy proposes for the first time to Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James). The scene was snarky, sexy, and totally made you laugh by the ridiculousness of the drama that the two characters are facing while they are fighting each other and destroying things that are inside of the room.

PPZ is a great take on a classic story for the newer audiences. You’ll laugh, the guys will love the action and the girls will squeal with the romance. It’s a fun ride and worth the time to see.
