Rumbler Staff

It wouldn’t be November without some delicious desserts to top off that Thanksgiving meal. Three staffers share their choice for the best Thanksgiving sweets.

Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin is the classical, the stereotypical, the tradition, the almost worshiped flavor of fall. It not only plays an important role in your coffee drinks and candles, it holds the title for most prominent Thanksgiving pie. Pumpkin pie is something taken very seriously at my household. The Buie Family Thanksgiving Rules states that no less than three pumpkin pies must be available in the days before, during and after Thanksgiving at any given time. If it comes down to it, my family will buy pumpkin pie but everyone prefers to have the home made stuff. It not only taste fresh but has the perfect consistency. And it is what I look forward to the most during the fall season. –Jordan Buie

Oreo Cookie Pie
Oreos are my favorite kind of packaged cookie. And I am a huge sucker for pudding pie. Now what if there was a way to put them together? Well there is. In a form of a pie. In my family, my mom makes it ever year. It takes about a day and a half to make because the filling is pudding and it needs to settle and solidify. It’s sweet and soft and definitely satisfies the sugar craving that every Thanksgiving meal has. With a dash of whip cream as the cherry on top, Oreo Cookie Pie is one of my all-time favorite Thanksgiving desserts. –Nalani Nuylan

Cheesecake
Cheesecake. Just the name gives me chills in all the right places. The desert that makes or breaks the Thanksgiving meal in my house. With its creamy consistency and graham cracker crust baked to perfection, our secret family recipe of cheesecake has been passed down from generation to generation. Topped off with fresh cherries, this classic dessert is the perfect hybrid of deliciousness. I think we can all agree when I say that nothing compares to momma’s cookin’. We only make it during holidays and when that glorious time of the year comes around the atmosphere in my house changes. From “HEY, GET OUT OF THE BATHROOM YOU’VE BEEN IN THERE ALL DAY” to “Hey, I’m sorry to rush you, but I have to be somewhere soon so could you please try to hurry up?” This behavior that suddenly appears in my house is all due to the wonderfully delicious De La Paz family cheesecake. –Destiny De La Paz

Cherry Pie
A Thanksgiving dessert my family has is cherry pie. We chose cherry because it has a sweet taste, complements the meal and is one of the few I actually like. I like it because the cherry glaze is sweet and the cherries add a tart taste, adding contrast between the two, creating a balance of flavor. –Leah Lopez

Pumpkin Chocolate PiePumpkin dessert ER
These are like little to-go pumpkin pies, with a twist to make them even better! Along with the nice smooth taste of pumpkin, the bars are infused with chocolate. This is absolutely a wonderful dessert to make and share for Thanksgiving with the chocolaty richness of a brownie and the cinnamon sweetness of a pumpkin pie. – Emily Rowe
