Picture Perfect

Taking pictures with your friends or date can be one of most memorable parts of prom night. Choosing the right location is easy if you follow the tips below.

Inside: If you have a staircase available, you might want to take photos inside. The classic scene of the girl in a beautiful dress descending the staircase to meet her date makes an elegant photo. Even if you don’t have a staircase, you can take a photo in the center of a walkway or somewhere with plenty of light. The inside photo option is also good if it is raining or bad weather.

Outside: Taking photos outside can be a bit more risky. The weather can either make or break a prom photo or maybe even ruin your outfit. However, despite being a delicate place to take photos, you will get a good background if you have some greenery. The natural lighting will add a beautiful element to your photos that you won’t get if you take your pics inside.

How to take them
Hands: When couples take prom photos holding hands, a lot of times they look like a shrimp cocktail. To avoid that, it is suggested by pro photographers that you take a photo with your hands touching, but not interlocking.

Background: Choose a clean background for your photo. It puts the focus on you and your group, and not on what is going on behind you. If you take a photo outside, choose a background of trees or greenery.

Posing: You can choose a traditional standing photo, which is completely fine, but you can also choose something more creative that adds a story to your picture. The most important thing is to have fun.

From a different angle: Taking a photo from a higher point of view can create a dreamy effect to the picture, whereas if you take your pictures from the waist, it will display entire outfits and a better view of everyone’s attire.
